Meet Our Counselors

Ralph Cook, M. Ed., LMFT ~ Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

In 2003, Ralph was an accomplished music educator serving as a Minister of Music, a Minister of Youth, and a teacher.  But he felt the desire to serve not only through education, but to minister to children and adults through counseling.

He obtained his Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. In addition to his private practice at Lantern Lane, he practiced at the Babb Center in Hendersonville from 2004 - 2011. He also provides counseling on a part-time basis for Gladeville Baptist Church and is the Clinical Director of Lifeworks in Gallatin. 

Phillip Bates, MA ~ Professional Counselor Under Supervision

Phillip received his Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University. He has a passion for empowering individuals to overcome personal obstacles. He has worked to help people with self esteem issues, grief, anxiety, trauma (PTSD), and depression. Phillip became a counselor to encourage people in their quests to live healthier, happier lives. Before receiving his Master's, Phillip earned two degrees from the University of Mississippi, a BA in Psychology and a BS in Forensic Chemistry. 

Growing up, Phillip always played sports and that is where he gained an inherent love of the sports world. Being a team player for more than a decade has provided him with the ability to connect with people from all walks of life, but also a special affinity for athletes. His background in volunteer coaching has given him valuable insight to helping people of all ages.

Jacob Dye, LPC, MHSP ~ Licensed Professional Counselor

Jacob Dye is a counselor with experience in various areas of counseling which include addiction, trauma, depression, and anxiety. Jacob has worked with individuals from all walks of life, with many of his clients ranging from teens to adults. He implements an integrative approach to therapy that focuses on mental, physical, and spiritual health through Cognitive Behavioral and Gestalt Therapeutic techniques.

Jacob attained his Master’s degree in counseling from Lipscomb University.

Carol Fancher, LPC, MHSP(temp) ~ Professional Counselor Under Supervision

Carol received a Master’s degree in counseling from TNU. She has also had over 16 years of experience working as an art teacher. Carol felt a desire to do more to help children and adults through counseling and art therapy. She has had additional training in grief counseling, suicide prevention and art therapy. She provides empathy and encouragement for children, adolescents, ladies, and senior adults. She helps them cope with issues such as: anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, crisis, behavior issues, grief and divorce recovery. She incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy with mindfulness, solution focused therapy, attachment theory and spiritual support.

Carol grew up here in middle Tennessee and enjoys time with her husband and three adult children. She likes playing with her dog, hiking local waterfalls and going to the beach!

Doug Johnson, MMFT ~ Marriage and Family Therapist Under Supervision

Doug received his Master's from Trevecca Nazarene University. He has a passion for helping people process through and understand difficult life challenges. His desire is to meet people where they are and walk with them through difficult and challenging moments. Doug has a passion to help people decrease issues of anxiety, depression, stress and addiction, and increase self-esteem and happiness through a collaborative approach using Experiential, Solution-Focused, and Play Therapies incorporating an Attachment based approach. He works with children, individuals, and couples.

Doug has lived in middle Tennessee for 11 years. He enjoys playing guitar, drawing, building with LEGO and traveling in his free time.

Julia Johnson, LPC, MHSP, CRC, CBIS ~ Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Certified Brain Injury Specialist

Julia feels blessed to serve those struggling with life's various challenges. She utilizes a holistic approach, considering biological, spiritual, psychological, environmental, and social factors which influence behavior. Julia enjoys working with clients to gain helpful strategies and achieve a greater quality of life. 

In addition to working with behavioral issues, Julia has intensive training in working with traumatic brain injury, stroke, and spinal cord injury in both rehabilitation hospital and neuropsychology clinic settings. She also performs cognitive rehabilitation as a certified rehabilitation counselor. Julia graduated from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock with an MA in Counseling. 

Julia enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and granddaughter, in addition to friends and family. She also loves being on the feed team for the animals at Lantern Lane Farm.

Nathan McCarty, MMFT ~ Marriage and Family Therapist Under Supervision

Nathan knows that dealing with hopelessness, anxiety, and other stressors in daily life can be difficult and sometimes unmanageable. He works with individuals, couples, children, adolescents, and families on learning to cope with and understand these stressors, as well as manage and overcome them. With a background in helping individuals cope with trauma, Nathan takes a systemic approach to therapy by utilizing Play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment-Based Intervention, as well as Solution Focused Brief Therapy. His goal is to establish trust and genuine relationships in order to walk clients through the pain and challenges of life.

A native of Montgomery, Alabama, Nathan received his Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Lipscomb University. He enjoys hiking, fishing, football, genuine conversation and spending time with his wife and two young daughters.

Taryn Peterson, LMFT ~ Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Taryn received her Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University. She counsels a diverse range of clients, including adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Taryn considers it an honor to walk alongside hurting people as they face trauma, grief, anxiety, addiction, self harm, life transitions, relationship difficulties, and other challenges.

In addition to incorporating methods such as Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy, Taryn is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a method known for its effectiveness in treating trauma and PTSD. She is passionate about the hope and healing she sees clients receive through the therapy process.

Outside of the office, Taryn enjoys hiking, road trips, horses, and exploring landscape photography with her husband.

Kerri Tracey, LCSW ~ Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Kerri is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has a Master's of Social Work degree from Loma Linda University, California. She has been working with children and families for 15 years, with specialty experience in the areas of multidisciplinary early childhood intervention related to dysregulation/ tantrums, attachment, trauma, autism and specialized parenting. She has experience supporting varying diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.  

Kerri's passion is providing caregivers with strategies to improve their interactions with young children (ages 0-6). She is committed to looking at the whole picture of the family and the child and include seeing every possible area of their life as a strength to build upon.

Gloria Isaacks, MS, OTR/L, MT-BC ~ Occupational Therapist, Music Therapist

Gloria is an occupational therapist and a board certified music therapist. Gloria has a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy and a Bachelor of Music degree, both from Belmont University. She also completed the music therapy equivalency program at Tennessee Technological University and has multiple specialty certifications.

Gloria has experience working with children with a variety of diagnoses, including but not limited to: Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD, developmental delays, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Fine motor/visual motor delays, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and behavioral disorders.

Gloria is originally from West Texas and currently lives in Franklin, TN.  She loves spending time with family and friends, as well as watching football. How 'bout them Cowboys!
